As a journalist, I have had the privilege of meeting some of the most fascinating people in the world. From professional athletes, to master chefs, even global leaders… I’ve seen and heard it all.

So when I found out that one of my favorite celebrities had suffered the same knee injury as me only she healed twice as fast… I knew there was a bigger story there and I was going to find it.

That’s what led me here — to the office of her chiropractor, a world-renowned “doctor to the stars".

Part 1: The Celebrity Treatment

As someone who regularly treats Hollywood’s rich and famous -- what are some of the reasons they come to see you?

Movies and entertainment might seem very glamorous, but what a lot of people don’t realize is how hard it can be on your body — how these celebrities push themselves to the limit. Tom Cruise, for example, is known for doing all of his own stunts, but few people are aware of how the countless injuries he’s endured on set have left him with chronic pain.

What is the typical treatment for your celebrity patients? Any secrets you can share?

Most of my patients see me at least once a week for adjustments and massages. I also use a few newer techniques to reduce inflammation and speed up healing time, like cold laser therapy and diathermy.

I like to keep up-to-date on the latest research and am always looking for the next best thing.

Those sound really intense… and expensive.

It can definitely add up, but when you’re looking to essentially make an injury disappear in the shortest amount of time possible… it’s necessary.

What about extreme circumstances? They’re on set and their knee is acting up… what do they do?

In those cases, I’ll recommend a dietary supplement they can take to help reduce discomfort and stiffness.

Part 2: A Secret Supplement

Really? A supplement?

When it comes to my patients and my practice, I only trust what I have done extensive research on and I only recommend what I can put my reputation behind.

And have any of your patients actually had success with this?

I had a patient a few months ago who was getting ready for a red carpet event. Leading up to it, she was running around and performing in these 6-inch heels and eventually her knees and ankles couldn't take it anymore. She had to start wearing flats just to give her body a break. She was too busy to come in for treatment, so I recommended this quick fix and in just a few days, she was back to normal.

What did you recommend?

I don’t want to promote or endorse anything, but essentially it was a concentrated dose of turmeric, collagen, and Boswellia Serrata, which have all been proven to help reduce joint discomfort and increase mobility.

Couldn't she just pick up turmeric from the grocery store?

It's a little bit more complicated than running to the corner market because in order for an ingredient found in a supplement to actually be effective... it needs to be clinically studied and patented.

What do you mean by patented?

Basically, the company behind these ingredients made sure they were effective by conducting clinical studies to prove they work better than the generic variety. In its clinical dose, a patented ingredient can be 10 or even 100 times more potent than the generic form.

How would someone make sure they're getting a “clinical dose”?

Again, I’m not endorsing anything, but… a doctor I know from 1MD helped create a formula called EasyFlex using those same patented ingredients in their specific, clinical doses. Very few supplements ever meet my standards, but with this I can say I have seen almost immediate results.

(Author’s Note: After our interview I went ahead and did a bit of research on this product. If you’d like more info, you can check it out here.)

Part 3: Final Thoughts

What could someone, like me, who’s not a celebrity do to feel like one?

Staying active and eating right will always be the answer to that. I recommend eating a mostly plant-based diet and working out at least 3 times a week. I have found yoga to be the most effective in specifically keeping joints young and limber, plus it has the added bonus of providing mental clarity and balance, as well.

Thank you so much. You’ve given me some really great insight.

No problem -- it was my pleasure.
